Alobar Downtown

Attentive service, cozy atmosphere and a high quality happy hour menu. One of the best burgers in the city for only $20 is unreal. Cocktail selection was intentional and well made. Flawless experience

It was our first time here at this restaurant and I was trying to figure out why they lost there Michelin Star but hopefully that one day it can be answered. The whole experience was real nice and elegant with a good view of things around, the restrooms where nice and clean with each individual having there own hand towels to which I found that different, the service was excellent from when we walked in to being served and leaving, the food was delicious and flavorful except for the ball of mashed peas inside a crisp ball I felt it was like putting baby food in my mouth but it wasn't bad just different. The stakes were cooked perfectly to a medium well and a medium rear, the tomatoe salad was good and fresh, the tartar was fresh and citrus to which I liked it for my first time trying it. The dessert was ok ( banana cream pie ) with a layer of sliced banana inside, I was not a fan of the acholic drink. I would eat here again if I was ever in the area and try something different and they also have live music on Friday/Saturday, I would recommend trying it out for yourself because you might just like it.

We went to AloBar for our anniversary dinner in the city, and it was perfect from start to finish. The entire team—from the host to the servers—was exceptional. Our server, Olivia, was fantastic, and you could tell the whole staff was on the ball the entire night. Plates were cleared the moment they were done, drinks were always topped up, and everything ran seamlessly. The surf and turf was delicious (steak cooked perfectly), and the salmon crudo was on another level. You can tell there’s real attention to detail in both the food and the service. Even when a kid started crying nearby, the live band subtly turned the volume up a touch—just one example of how attentive and professional everyone was. Highly recommend AloBar and will definitely be back!

Alobar will forever be tied to a truly special memory in my life. On June 22nd, 2024, my parents and my (now ex) girlfriend took me here for a birthday dinner—what made the night even more meaningful was that it was the first time she was meeting my parents and becoming part of our family. From start to finish, everything about the evening was exceptional. The service was absolutely flawless—warm, attentive, and incredibly polished without ever feeling stiff. The team made us feel celebrated and cared for in every moment. And the food? To die for. Every dish we ordered was packed with flavour, beautifully presented, and perfectly portioned. Regardless of price, it was worth every single bite. The wine pairings were also spot-on and added so much to the overall experience. But the true showstopper? The banana cream pie. I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s the best single food item in all of downtown Toronto. My ex and I fell so in love with it that we kept coming back after that night just to indulge in it again. It’s that good. Alobar is more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience. One that creates lasting memories, and one I’ll always be grateful for.

Amazing food and service. Loooved the zucchini salad and the salmon was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere though was not as impressive as I expected. Very ordinary but the food made it all worth it.

We rang in New Year’s Eve at Alobar Downtown with our two kids, and the entire experience was absolutely flawless. From the moment we walked in, everything clicked — the warm and friendly hostess, an exceptional front-of-house team, great music, perfect table next to the open kitchen, and a lively yet comfortable ambience. The service was smooth, professional, and genuinely welcoming, especially impressive on such a busy night. The food was outstanding across the board. We enjoyed the burger with au jus and fries, a perfectly cooked 24 oz ribeye, bacon-wrapped filet mignon, butter pasta for our youngest, calamari, broccolini that was crisp with a subtle Asian-style dressing, and mashed potatoes that were so delicious we honestly wished we’d ordered two. Not a single bite was left — every dish delivered. It was nice seeing Owner & Chef Patrick Kriss on the floor, running a very tight ship. Given that Alo has multiple locations and it being NYE, I was genuinely surprised (and impressed) to see him during service. It reminded me of the one time, many years ago, when I was lucky enough to see Chef Daniel Boulud in action at Daniel in NYC. That level of presence speaks volumes. As someone who is also in hospitality, I know firsthand how difficult it is to execute a flawless service — especially on a high-pressure night like NYE — and this team absolutely nailed it. To top it all off, when it came time for dessert, our server surprised us by saying that Chef Patrick would be sending all three desserts on the house for us to try. An incredibly generous and thoughtful gesture. He even mentioned that we could reach out to Chef Patrick directly via Instagram for future reservations if we ever had trouble — a personal touch that truly stood out. Bravo to the entire Alobar Downtown team. 10/10 experience, and we will definitely be back — not only here, but to try Alo's other locations as well. Highly recommended. p.s. photo's don't do justice.
